You’ve heard me say making sand sculptures doesn’t require special artistic ability, mostly it’s patience, persistence and practice… and some practical knowledge. (I call this 3PK). The one skill that’s needed is the ability to visualize something in your head, to picture what you want the final sculpture to look like. With some practice, even that will come to you!
So, fret not… if you print out several pictures of the thing you want to sculpt, hopefully from different angles, that will help a lot with the visualization.
Don’t let the pursuit of a perfect sand sculpture be the obstacle to making a good sand sculpture. My first sand sculptures were pretty awful. Now, they’re at least good enough that people tell me they like them. Learn from each one you make, and apply that to the next!
