Hoppity Hooper was a mid-1960’s cartoon featuring Hoppity (a frog) Waldo Wigglesworth (a fox) and Filmore (a bear). Hoppity was naïve and nice, Waldo was a snake oil salesman (literally as well as figuratively) who claims to be Hoppity’s uncle (despite the obvious inter-species issue…) and Filmore is, well, a simpleton. Waldo continually calls Filmore, “Finster”, to which Filmore always calmly replies, “I’m Filmore, Waldo”. Their voices are distinctive, and many of you would recognize them if you heard them.
I started with Hoppity, since he’s the main character:
Then I sketched Waldo in the sand to the left of Hoppity, and added more wet sand where needed.
