Mr. Magoo first appeared in 1949 as a nearsighted cartoon character created by John Hubley for the 1949 short cartoon film called Ragtime Bear. Mister Magoo’s extreme myopia is basis of much of the humor in the cartoon. He frequently mistakes the blurry images he sees as people. Or he walks into dabgerous situation, like traffic or construction sites. For example, in Ragtime Beat, Mr. Magoo mistakes a bear for his nephew, Waldo.
August of 2024, I made Mr. Magoo. He’s about 4 ft tall and 5 feet wide. That’s a LOT of sand to shovel and water to carry. Notice, he’s even holding his cigar!
